Oh New England.

Why am I not here, in beautiful California?
please tell me why?

All that glitters...

Finally. I have been waiting my entire life (ok, my adult life) to wear sequence again, and not be in a dance recital. It is back and better than ever. Now, what to choose!

Just don't go wearing these all together now! :)

LBD with a twist!

Speaking of LBD’s. Check out this little number I found while reading Jillian Harris’s blog. If you aren’t up for the zebra tights, this should do the trick!

Talula Viscose Jersey Dress

What a fun way to spice up your typical boring gray, navy or black tights! Perfect for the holidays, a colorful pair will make your simple LBD stand out in the crowd!
Tights

Tutu, do I dare?

Ballet when I was 5 was one of the most memorable times in my life, well mainly for the fun outfits I got to wear! I remember pink leotards with beautiful tutu's and lots of ribbons. Ah, that was such a fun time!

So I happened to be at Target for my usualy weekly trip of necessities and as I was walking toward the register this little beauty caught my eye:

Velvet, sigh.

If someone told me a few years ago I would be obsessing over a pair of black velvet wide leg trousers I would have hit them, I'm not joking around here kids! But, I stumbled upon these amazing Banana Republic pants and as Rachel Zoe would say, I die.

Esty, a new world of online treasures!

If you are like me, you will love some of the great treasures I have come across on Esty. For those of you living under a rock ( I kid..) Esty is a place where people can buy and sell homemade clothing, gifts, jewelry, furniture art and a ton more! Here are some examples of a few amazing items I have brought and have in my cart waiting to buy...
How perfect would this be with a wedding dress?!?

I am obsessed with this color- I may need to order now!

Got these a few weeks ago- perfect to jazz up a simple outfit!

Flats... to go!

I constantly am having my boyfriend carry me (yes, I am serious, there have been quite a few piggyback rides through the streets of Boston at 2am!) after a long night of wearing my highest of heels. I have recently resorted to not even looking at heels over 3 inches, yes it is hard. That has helped my cause but I still find myself wanting to rip them off by midnight. So after reading a Rachel Zoe blog post on these little guys I had wished I thought of this fantastic idea! Instead I usually find the biggest bag I can stand to hold all night and stuff a pair of my own flats in their for later. How cute are these?

NYC trip

After the longest week of my life we were set to head to NYC for the weekend to visit friends who were in town. New York City has never been somewhere I dream about going. I am more of a small city girl (hence why I live in Boston). Don't get my wrong, I, of course love all things fashion so it is always tempting but by Sunday I could not wait to get out! We opted for the Bolt Bus so we could save some money instead of spending over $300 on Amtrak! My first time on a bus to the city proved to be ok. It was quiet, skewed an age group right around ours, mid-late 20's, some 30ish peeps. It was a long trip, but fairly quiet. Once we arrived we quickly navigated our way through the city to our friend's apartment on the west side of Mid-town ( god, I sound like I know what I am talking about!). Let's just say finding that apartment was not as easy as it sounds! Anyways we rushed to get ready as my cousins were waiting for us at a bar by Penn Station, called Stout. It was a fairly quiet bar, some good music playing the background, we had a nice little seated area to ourselves. We caught up had a few drinks and they all headed home fairly early, as they had to catch trains out of the city. We stayed, drank more and decided to order the Chicken burger with guacamole (such a good idea for a burger!) and delicious hand cut fries! Yum.

On Saturday we had a good breakfast at a local diner then headed into Times Square for a drink before the Rock of Ages show.  The hotel had a surprising swanky bar with a Ahmazing view!

The show was actually pretty good, funny, great music (of course!) and maybe just a tad too long, but overall still good for someone who is not a musical- type of person! The remainder of the weekend included a filling dinner and some late-night dancing!

Christian Siriano for Payless

Wait- before you skip over this one, just check out the shoes below. I am not one for payless typically, I have probably been in the store maybe twice in my life and once was for part of a Halloween costume. That being said I was reading one of my many blogs last week and come across an ad for these:

See? I told you to wait! How cute are these? Faux lizard upper with gold piping? Looooove. So I decided to pop in at lunch after convincing my co-worker. Unfortunately, they didn't have a good selection at the one I went to, I did manage to find one pair that I bought, on sale for 27.99, originally priced at 34.99. Mine were black:
I am hoping the are comfy- they seemed a little hard on the sides so we will see! My feet have really gone through everything for fashion so I am sure they will survive after a few brisk walks to the T! To view the entire collection go here.
To faux or not to faux?

I am all about saving the animals so I have never bought real fur in my life. The concept of Faux fur has always been around but I had always though, super cheese, everyone will know it is a fake. Then, I discovered the Faux fur collection at Piperlime.com and completly did a 180. Georgeous, detailed faoux fur vests. I die. Oh, and also amzing mini fur coats which will be perfect for the upcoming Holiday party season!

Now, which one will you choose??

Nightstand options on a budget

Next furniture piece on the list is two nightstands. I keep toying with whether or not I want them to match or just flow, offering some different texture/style to the bedroom. I have found a few options that fit my taste.
C2B proof nightstand:
Overstock.com Nailhead Espresso end Table Trunk:

Pottery Barn Mirrored bedside Table (love this one, but might be out of the budget!):

In the bedroom...

In 2 months and 1 week I am moving into my (I should say our) new apartment with my boyfriend. I am super excited to be starting my "adult" life and I am now on the hunt for super cute pieces to buy for the place. We just bought this couch from West Elm. We had been looking for a couple months and decided to head to the store in downtown Boston to check in out, as in literally lie down on it to make sure we could see ourselves spending countless hours watching Dexter.

So we got the couch above in brown. We ended up buying two and a ottoman. One was just too small and I like to sprawl out as much as possible. Its great- the back cushions are not attached so you can change them around anyway you want- its like having a new couch every time! It's actually the size of a full twin bed- perfect for a last minute sleepover or a very comfy movie night! Oh did I forget to mention, we bought floor models?? 60% off every piece- what is better than that!?

Saving with coupon codes

I would say over the last 2 years I have done about 75% of my shopping online. The main reason is time. I hate spending my weekends (especially in the summer) stuck indoors. My weeknights are for lots of pup time and hitting the gym. So hence my high rate of online purchasing.
As I think more about shopping online I have really noticed I save more. These days with all of the deal sites, retailmenot has been my most reliable and successful one yet. Every single time I order something online I just Google the name of the store followed by coupons and take a few minutes to test a few, typically I always find one that works!
Another great way to save on online orders is to sign up for emails, they usually always have discounts every few weeks or even a first time purchase discount if you are new to the site!
Happy shopping!!

What to do with your hair in this heat!

I love summer but when it comes to having long, sometimes frizzy hair its hard to manage in the heat. Typically I just let it air dry and call it a day, but that gets boring and sometimes does not look that great so here are some easy and fun trends I have been spotting!
